Sun Life to look at effectiveness of pharmacogenetics on plan members

Sun Life Financial will be offering plan members on short- and long-term disability leave for depression or anxiety the chance to take part in a study on the impact of pharmacogenetic testing.

The insurer is participating in a study that examines the effectiveness of the technology in partnership with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and personalized medicine provider Assurex Health Inc.

Workers would take pay cut, reduced vacation to work flexibly: survey

Nearly a third (29 per cent) of employees would take a pay cut to work flexibly, while 22 per cent would take reduced vacation time and 19 per cent would give up employer-matched retirement contributions, according to a new survey by online service FlexJobs.

The survey, which polled more than 5,500 employees, also found 79 per cent of respondents believe the availability of flexible working options would increase their loyalty to their employer, while 73 per cent said remote working would help strengthen their relationships with their colleagues.

When employees are young and often working remotely, and when the wellness budget is non-existent, human resources managers have to be creative to ensure employees get a healthy balance at work.
